The PVC Pipe Association (PVCPA) has established a new award program to recognize utilities in the United States and Canada that have been using PVC water mains for 50 years or more. PVC water pipe was first used in North America in 1954. We believe it is important to highlight long-term infrastructure performance. PVCPA is a non-profit organization that represents North American manufacturers of PVC pipe for water, sewer, and irrigation applications. The Association publishes technical publications, sponsors research, and recommends standards on PVC piping systems which are recognized throughout the world.
The map of preliminary award recipients shows PVC pipe’s resilience and suitability in all climatic conditions and geographic regions of North America: seismically prone areas, places where wildfires are common, cold and hot temperatures, corrosive soils, wet and dry climates, etc.
